Blade Runner - Replicant: Leon Kowalski's Birthday

You're probably wondering about the title and what it means.

Essentially, I was looking up movie quotes to one of the "all-time-greatest-sci-fi film of its time", Blade Runner [1982]. One of the characters, Leon Kowalski is one of the replicants that is being tracked down by a Blade Runner named Deckard. Only, Leon finds Deckard first and proceeds to beat his ass. In that scene, Leon, admits his Birthday is on 04/10/2017. If you've not seen the film, then you'll have to watch it to understand the significance of why the birthday is relevant to the plot.

What is my point? Well, my point is to say that I thought it was a good day to have a Blade Runner viewing party. For newbies or fans alike. I marked this on my Calendar program and I thought, "maybe, if I post it now and get people to hit this blog post, we can set it up so we have a global-massive-viewing when Leon's birthday comes up.". Insignificant? Yes, I know. But fun, and even interesting to discuss on some level. Yet, if you put some thought into it, it's a "Once in a Lifetime" thing. It can't ever be done again!

So, let the count down begin. Then, everyone gathers around and watches Blade Runner, in its entirety, and then salute Leon as he makes appearances on screen. It's far enough away as a date to set it up and celebrate globally on 04/10/2017.

[By the way, this Spanish version of the Blade Runner DVD actually got the date wrong. It was mistakenly translated as the 2nd, rather then the 10th.]

REMEMBER, you heard it from ME, FIRST. Respect, fucker!

*** Spoiler Alert in the dialogue for Leon's scene. ***

Deckard: Leon!

Leon: How old am I?

Deckard: [after slugging Leon, to no effect] I dunno.

Leon: My birthday is April 10, 2017. How long do I live?

Deckard: Four years.

Leon: More than you! Painful to live in fear, isn't it?

[Dear Hollywood wanna-be producers, directors and actors, rumor has it that they want to attempt to remake this film. Please, do not do it as it will be a total disaster.]
